Springtime (seasons) Stained Glass, roughly 24"x36" January 2011
After having done a number of Mucha-inspired windows, I decided to branch out and try my hand at my own designs, inspired by the Mucha/Art Noveau style, but from scratch, not directly connected to anyone elses work. You may recognie Tori from some of the drawings on here; the plan is to do all four seasons along the same lines. (see Summer here: [link] )
Like the others, this is a colaborative piece. My Dad owns a Stained Glass Studio www.stainedglassstudiostpeter.com in Minnesota; I do the design work and some of the color selection and send it to him; he'll cut it and send me the pieces that need to be painted, which he'll have to fire in the shop. When it's all done, he'll assemble and solder the finished piece. It's a good system, but it would be nice if I could just walk in and do things in person. But hey, that's what holidays are for, right??
I've been having a little issue with getting a good photo of this, so I'll upload a better one if I get the chance. Meantime, see a pic of this in the studio here: [link]
I've left the full download feature on; there's some really good detail work in the frit used on the cherry blosoms, you'd do well to look at that up close! This was actually the first of these pieces that I'd designed, inspired by the blossoms as much as anything else, and how to capture them in glass. Hope y'all enjoy!
